Travel north to the coastal town of Georgetown, SC, home to Mansfield Plantation. Established in 1718 on the banks of the Black River, Mansfield Plantation is widely recognized as one of the most well preserved antebellum rice plantations in the United States. Still privatly owned and not open to the public, Kelly Tours has received special permission to visit and tour the gourps with an expert guide, including the abandoned rice fields, the old slave village and chapel, the main house built circa 1780, the winnowing barn and rice mill, and much more! You may note several familiar spots along the way as it was here that the Mel Gibson movie “The Patriot” was filmed! After this unique experience we will have an included lunch and time to shop on Front Street in downtown Georgetown. Then your local guide will take you around the historic district with a very special visit to the Prince George Episcopal Church, where you will see the original Box pews dating back to 1747.
