Our first stop is Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, the original site of our Nation’s oldest city. Located in the area first explored by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513 and settled by Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1565, historic St. Augustine is the oldest successful European settlement in the United States. Discover the saga of Juan Ponce de Leon and his search for new lands and the tragedy which befell the Timucua civilization. Hear the fascinating story of Pedro Menendez de Aviles and the settling of St. Augustine, plus taste the waters that issue forth from the original spring which contains over 30 minerals. In the afternoon, enjoy free time for lunch and wonderful shopping on St. George Street before hopping back on the coach for your journey home, where your tour director will serve a sweet snack freshly baked from the St. Augustine Spanish Bakery.
