Project Description

Peachy Day

Peachy Day

$104per person

Bring along your sweet tooth as we discover our states iconic fruit, the scrumptious Peach! Our first stop is Lane Southern Orchards in Fort Valley. There will be a self-guided tour available of the packing line (if the packing line is running) where you will see the employees grading the freshly picked peaches from an elevated catwalk. This is guaranteed to make you desperate to try a sweet Georgia peach, which we shall oblige with lunch at their Peachtree Café, including of course, Peach Cobbler for dessert! Following lunch, you will have some time to shop the huge indoor roadside market. Our final stop today is at Dickey Farms in Historic Musella, Georgia’s oldest continuously operating peach packinghouse. Upon arrival our guide will meet us and take us on a more in-depth look into peach farming (this is a walking tour so wear comfortable shoes). We will begin in the peach orchard where you will be educated on growing GA peaches, varieties, and farming practices. Then we visit the packinghouses, where they explain how peaches come in from the orchard and sent out to the grocery stores, plus some highlights of the history of Historic Musella, GA. Sit back in one of their rocking chairs and enjoy your Peach Ice Cream Cone and a fresh Peach, on us, as you look out over the historic town of Musella. You will have some time to shop the Open-Air Market and Gift Shop before we board our coach and head for home.
