Grayline Fort Jackson & Bonaventure Cemetery

Fort Jackson & Bonaventure

$49per person

Old Ft. Jackson is Georgia’s oldest standing brick fortification dating back to the early 1800s and is our first stop of the day. Experience the daily cannon firing, re-enactments, historical artifacts, and beautiful views along the Savannah River. Departing the fort, we head to Paula Deans’ newest restaurant, The Creek House, for lunch (on own). Then we continue to the famous Bonaventure Cemetery. This public cemetery, located near the Wilmington River, spans nearly 160 acres. The cemetery became famous when it was featured on the cover of the 1994 novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt, and in the movie of the same name, directed by Clint Eastwood. Learn about the lives of notable inhabitants from our expert guide as we walk through the Cemetery.
